Frequently asked questions

Which countries are supplied from Switzerland?

Swiss Post sends mail items to all countries in the world, provided that the postal service in the country of destination is not interrupted by specific circumstances, such as wars, natural disasters or a lack of transportation options. In addition, we also send parcels via the Europe-wide network of our partner GLS and for urgent shipments we use the worldwide network of FedEx.

What shipping options are available?
We offer various options for the international shipment of goods, which vary depending on the country of destination, shipment weight, delivery speed and additional services.
How long does it take to ship to different countries?
The transportation time of a shipment abroad depends on the country of destination and the selected shipping service. Delivery to Germany, for example, takes 1 working day with URGENT in urban centers, while a postal parcel weighing up to 20 kg is delivered within 2-3 working days. You can find detailed information on delivery times for each country of destination on our shipping assistant.
What costs are associated with international shipping?
When shipping goods abroad, it is important to note that in addition to the postage costs alone, additional costs such as customs clearance fees, VAT and customs duties may be incurred. The costs incurred depend on the shipping service used to send the goods abroad, the contents of the shipment and the value of the goods. Our shipping assistant shows you the postage costs per country and shipping service.
Are there insurance options for shipping?
Our goods consignments (excluding small international goods) are insured up to CHF 500( but no more than the declared value of the goods) against damage, theft and loss. The General Terms and Conditions of Postal Services for Business Customers apply
How can I track my parcel?
Goods shipments abroad can be sent via the homepage or the Swiss Post app. Please note that electronic consignment tracking cannot be offered for all consignments.
Are there any restrictions on shipping certain items abroad?
Not all goods may be shipped abroad. In particular, the shipment of dangerous goods abroad is prohibited. Goods whose possession is prohibited in Switzerland or in the country of destination are also excluded from shipment. Our GTC and a selection of import regulations provide information on what is prohibited or restricted for shipping abroad. Ultimately, the sender is responsible for ensuring that only permitted goods are sent.
What happens if the parcel is detained at customs?
Goods shipments are cleared through customs in the country of destination, which is the responsibility of the customs administration of the country of destination or a customs agent. If a shipment is detained during customs clearance, this is often due to an inadequate goods declaration. In most cases, customs will contact the recipient and request missing information. Information on the whereabouts of a consignment can also be obtained from our customer service .
How can I contact customer service if I have a problem?
Customer service can be reached by telephone on 0848 48 48 47 or via the online contact form.
Are there any special offers or discounts for international shipping?
We offer our business customers interesting discounts for certain annual consignment volumes. For more information, please contact our SME support team.
