What is SmartGate Direct and what services does it include?
SmartGate Direct is a modular shipping solution for shipments from other EU countries to Switzerland and the associated returns. With SmartGate Direct, the consignments are fed directly into a Swiss Post parcel center , where they are cleared through customs and delivered to the Swiss recipient. In addition to Swiss customs clearance and delivery, the solution offers optional service elements for EU customs clearance , linehaul transport and returns processing.
How does customs clearance work at Swiss Post's parcel centers?

The goods are transported in transit to a Swiss Post parcel center.The transit procedure can be initiated at the sender's premises or at the Swiss border.Delivery of the goods and import customs clearance is then carried out by Swiss Post directly at a parcel center. Swiss Post has the necessary authorizations from Swiss customs for this. Direct transport to a parcel center using the transit procedure avoidswaiting times at the border and unnecessary detours.

How long does delivery take with SmartGate Direct
With the Priorityoption , consignments are delivered to the Swiss parcel center one day after they are posted. With the Economy shipping option, this takes up to two days. How large and heavy can SmartGate Direct shipments be?
The size and weight of the items sent are based on the specifications for the parcel channel (up to 30 kg, maximum 100 x 60 x 60 cm for normal items and maximum combined dimensions of 400 cm, with a maximum of 200 cm in length, for bulky items). You can find more information here.
